Itinerary

(DAY 1) Sunday 3rd September

We arrive at our Hotel on the edge of Dartmoor to a warm welcome and a refreshing glass of Pimms. Time to settle in and enjoy the Hotel’s beautiful gardens before dinner.

(DAY 2) Monday 4th September

We drive towards Plymouth and take a Harbour Cruise finishing at Cremyll Quay. Ashuttle bus will take us through the Country Park to Mount Edgcumbe to visit the beautiful mansion and its 18th century listed gardens. Later this afternoon we rejoin the coach to return to the Hotel.

(DAY 3) Tuesday 5th September

A short drive takes us to Buckland Abbey. Once owned by Cistercian Monks, the Abbey is now looked after by the National Trust, and is crammed with a variety of treasures such as Sir Francis Drake’s drum. We will return to the Hotel through the rugged landscape of the National Park.

(DAY 4) Wednesday 6th September

Today we will drive across the border into Cornwall to visit Cotehele. Built 600 years ago, the Hall has changed little since Tudor times, and the 12-acres garden features terraces, ponds and old orchards with over 150apple varieties. Take the shuttle bus, or a short stroll, to the Quay to see the Tamar sailing barge ‘Shamrock’, lime kilns and Discovery Centre. Later enjoy a visit to Cotehele Mill, aworking watermill with wheelwright’s shop, chairmaker, blacksmith and potter.

(DAY 5) Thursday 7th September

After breakfast we say goodbye to the Moorland Garden and return to Sussex, making a lunch stop in the County Town of Dorchester.
