We are repeating this winter tour to Austria that proved such a hit with our customers in 2017. The holiday takes you to the Austrian Tyrol to experience lofty Alpine peaks, exhilarating mountain air, glistening snowy landscapes and powdery snow crunching under your shoes. We include a full programme of excursions, accompanied by an experienced local guide, and there will be two drivers on the coach to ensure your comfort and safety, and to provide a complimentary tea/coffee service.
Your Holiday Hotel
Located in a quiet location in the centre of Götzens, this three-star hotel has 55 rooms, a restaurant, cosy bar and a spa area with a small indoor pool. The bright bedrooms all feature private facilities, a balcony, satellite television, and Austrian style twin beds. There is a free bar from 16.00-22.00 each evening including soft drinks, tea and coffee, house wine and beer.
(DAY 1) Saturday 13th January
An early start today, when one of our taxis will call to collect you and bring you to the coach to join your drivers and fellow passengers. Sit back and enjoy a tea or coffee on the journey to Folkestone. We take the Eurotunnel train to France and drive to our overnight hotel in the Saarbrucken/Saarlouis area, with dinner and breakfast included.
(DAY 2) Sunday 14th January
Today our route takes us through Bavaria, over the Fern Pass and along the Inn Valley to the three-star Clubhotel Götzen near Innsbruck, where a welcome drink awaits.
(DAY 3) Monday 15th January
An ascent by one of Austria’s oldest mountain railways to the Mutteralm with a light lunch included. From the top there are magnificent views of the Inn Valley. This afternoon we enjoy a snowshoe hike and after dinner take part in Roadmark’s bowling night.
(DAY 4) Tuesday 16th January
This morning we explore the provincial capital of Innsbruck to see the famous Golden Roof. We also visit the Bergisel Ski Jump and take the inclined elevator to the top of the tower for a breath-taking panoramic view of Innsbruck and the Nordkette Mountains. This afternoon we take you on a horse-drawn sleigh ride to the Postkutscherhof in Axams where we will enjoy coffee and cake to round off the day.
(DAY 5) Wednesday 17th January
We take the Olympiabahn funicular to the “white roof” of the Olympic region and have a light lunch in the Panorama Restaurant at 2,340 metres. Later we continue to the tranquil Natterer See to explore the snowy landscape around the Lake. This evening join in our fun filled games night.
(DAY 6) Thursday 18th January
Today we will travel along the Inn Valley to visit the medieval walled town of Rattenberg, known as the Austrian capital of glass and crystal. The pedestrianised centre is full of revitalised townhouses, cobbled streets and alleyways and there will be time to visit one of the showrooms and see artisans at work. We will see an Apfelstrudel making demonstration and enjoy a piece of the finished speciality with a coffee. Back at our Hotel we will take a torchlight walk through the snowy landscape in Gotzens, followed by mulled wine before dinner. A farewell music evening rounds off our last day in Austria.
(DAY 7) Friday 19th January
Departure after breakfast and return to Saarbrucken/Saarlouis for an overnight stay.
(DAY 8) Saturday 20th January
Homeward bound, with happy memories of our snowy Alpine holiday. We return through the Channel Tunnel, reaching Sussex early evening. Taxis will be waiting to take you to your door.
