Overview

Don’t be alarmed, as this is not the name of the hotel where you will be staying! Although first aired in 1975, this loveable British sitcom stands up to this day as a jewel in the BBC’s comedy crown. Who can forget hotel proprietor Basil, his long-suffering wife Sybil and, of course, the hapless Spanish waiter Manuel?

Itinerary

(DAY 1) Sunday 19th November

The coach will collect you from one of our convenient local joining points (see below). We travel to Berkshire for a visit to Windsor Castle. You will tour the State Apartments, furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection. There are paintings by the Great Masters, fine English and French furniture, and the tiny treasures of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. During November you also have access to the Semi-State Rooms, sumptuous private apartments created by George IV. Your admission also includes St. George’s Chapel, one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in England, where ten of our monarchs are buried. Later we will travel to the Beaumont Estate, with time to settle in before the evening entertainment begins.

(DAY 2) Monday 20th November

There is no need to rush today and, after a leisurely breakfast you will have time to read the papers or take a relaxing dip in the pool. Leaving the Hotel mid-morning we make our way to Kingston-Upon-Thames. The town has an excellent selection of shops, from the large department stores like John Lewis and Bentalls, to small independent retailers. Time for lunch before heading back to Sussex.
