Itinerary
(DAY 1) Monday 9th October
Once the taxi has collected you from home we will set off on our journey to the West Country, calling at the pretty town of Sidmouth for a lunch stop. This evening there will be a welcome drinks reception before dinner.
(DAY 2) Tuesday 10th October
After breakfast we drive to Totnes and board a steam train for a nostalgic 7-mile journey on the former GWR branch line alongside the River Exe to Buckfastleigh. We spend lunchtime at Buckfast Abbey before returning to the Hotel for a delicious Devonshire Cream Tea.
(DAY 3) Wednesday 11th October
First to Newton Abbot, with time to explore and visit the bustling street market. Then into the wilds of the Dartmoor National Park. We will drive through the craggy landscape, where ponies outnumber people, passing striking granite tors, steep wooded river valleys and swathes of heather covered moorland.
(DAY 4) Thursday 12th October
Today you will enjoy one of the most scenic river cruises in Britain as we take a 90-minute trip on the Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth (or vice-versa depending on the tide). Our cruise passes the magnificent buildings of the Britannia Royal Naval College, Agatha Christie’s Greenway Estate, and the riverside villages of Stoke Gabriel and Dittisham. Thisafternoon there will be a cider and cheese tasting from a local West Country producer.
(DAY 5) Friday 13th October
We are homeward bound today and will break the journey for a lunch stop in the County Town of Dorchester. On reaching Sussex taxis will take you to your door.
