Welford Park Snowdrops

Saturday 3rd February 2018

COSTS
£26.00 All seats

Overview

We travel, first of all, to the town of Newbury. The High Street is traffic-free and there are many restaurants and pubs so you will have no trouble in finding something to eat. After lunch we make our way to Welford Park – site of a monastery until their dissolution in the 16th Century. Today Welford is famous for its display of snowdrops across the 7-acre woodland site adjacent to the River Lambourn. The soil here is perfect for snowdrops to prosper and in the days of the monastery the monks were known to propagate them for decoration at the Feast of Candlemas and also for medicinal purposes.
