Overview

We board a Eurotunnel train which will whisk us to France in a little over half an hour. We then join the motorway and travel south past Boulogne and into the region of Picardy. We will approach St.Valery on a road which runs right around the charming Bay of The Somme, past a patchwork of marshes and meadows. The old town is a delight. There will be plenty of time to explore, perhaps taking lunch in one of the restaurants and cafes which line the narrow streets. St.Valery dates back to medieval times, and a climb up to the ramparts will be rewarded by a superb view of the harbour from which William the Conqueror set sail. Passports required.
