Overview
We travel to the REME Museum at RAF Lyneham. The Corps of the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers were formed in 1942 and provide engineering support for every military operation. From maintaining helicopters, to recovering tanks and repairing the Army’s weapons, REME ensure that the Army’s equipment is ready to use whenever it is needed. There is a café in the museum, however we shall stop in the town of Marlborough for lunch prior to our arrival in Lyneham. On our return journey we shall pass through the town of Royal Wootton Bassett, granted royal patronage in recognition of its role in military funeral repatriations.
