Poppies Wave – at Fort Nelson
Monday 21st May 2018
Commemorating 100 years since the end of World War I, Poppies Wave is a recreation of the famous installation originally at the Tower of London in 2014. This breathtaking sculpture is a sweeping arch of bright red poppy heads suspended on towering stalks and, as part of a UK tour will be at Fort Nelson near Portsmouth. Fort Nelson is also home to the Royal Armouries big guns, housed in 19 acres of ramparts, outer fortifications, secret underground tunnels, and ammunition bunkers. Discover what life was like for the Victorian garrison in the barrack rooms, hospital and kitchen and experience the daily firing, at 1 o’clock, of a World War II 25-pound Howitzer. There is a cafe serving snacks and light meals.
