Oxfordshire is one of those counties that you tend to whizz through on your way to somewhere else, however it has an enormous number of pretty small towns and villages waiting to be discovered. Our new day out will include a lunchtime stop in the town of Witney on the River Windrush. The largest town in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, Witney is famous for the manufacture of blankets and gloves and was chosen by The Sunday Times in 2014 as one of the best places to live in Britain. One of the most historic buildings is the Blanket Hall built in 1721 which has been restored as a rug shop, a pie shop and a museum.
