Mount Ephraim Gardens and Faversham
with Cream Tea
Friday 19th May 2017
£32.50 All seats
We travel, first of all, to the charming and historic town of Faversham in Kent. There will be time to explore this picturesque market town (the town has almost 500 listed buildings) and find some lunch. In the afternoon we drive to the nearby village of Hernhill to visit Mount Ephraim Gardens. The gardens are set in the grounds of the home of the Dawes family and were originally laid out in the early 1900s, but after wartime neglect (when most adult men were enlisted in wartime services) they were substantially restored by Mary and Bill Dawes from the early 1950s.
Today the gardens comprise the Mizmaze, Topiary Garden, Japanese Style Rock Garden and Water Garden, Millenium Rose Garden and Arboretum. Before leaving for home we have arranged for a delicious cream tea to be served in the Woodrose Tearooms.
