Overview

The Imperial War Museum in London houses world-class collections telling the everyday and exceptional stories of people whose lives have been forever impacted by war, with unique documents and objects, art, sound and film. Ground-breaking galleries reflect on war from the First World War onwards, to conflicts that continue to shape our world today. Permanent exhibitions include The Lord Ashcroft Gallery: Extraordinary Heroes and Secret War. In this centenary of the end of the First World War there are special exhibitions looking back at this ‘war to end all wars’ and at the time of our visit the museum will be hosting Poppies: Weeping Window – a cascade comprising several thousand handmade ceramic poppies, part of the 14-18 NOW commemoration of the First World War.
