We travel to Suffolk today to visit Ickworth House, a National Trust property near Bury St.Edmunds. Ickworth dates from 1795 and was the creation of the eccentric Earl of Bristol. Designed to display the Earl’s magnificent collection of art treasures, the state-rooms contain spectacular paintings by Titian, Gainsborough and Velazquez. The surrounding garden was designed to complement the house and contains many Mediterranean species. There is a National Trust Gift Shop and self-service restaurant for teas etc.
