Overview

We have arranged this visit to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London, the first traditional Hindu Mandir in Europe. 2,820 tonnes of Bulgarian limescale and 2,000 tonnes of Italian Carrara marble were shipped to India, carved by over 1,500 craftsmen and re-shipped to London. In all 26,300 carved pieces were assembled like a giant jigsaw puzzle in less than 3 years. There is a permanent exhibition which provides an insight into the wisdom and values of Hinduism. A vegetarian buffet lunch, including dessert, has been organised in the Shayana Restaurant, which is located by the temple.

No alcohol is allowed in the restaurant. Soft drinks can be purchased, although tap water is provided with lunch.
