Exbury Gardens lies on the fringes of the New Forest bordering the Beaulieu River. It has been described as “Heaven with the Gates Open”. Created by Lionel de Rothschild in the 1920s, the tranquil oak woodland gardens offer over 200 acres of natural and horticultural beauty. We have timed our visit to hopefully catch the display of azaleas at their best. There are also riverside walks, showpiece rock, exotic and heather gardens, sculpture and art exhibitions to enjoy. There is a large Plant Centre and Gift Shop, and a licensed restaurant/tearooms. You may also take a ride on Exbury’s steam railway which can be pre-booked for a reduced price of £3.50.
