Overview

Following a chequered history as a family home, failed hotel and girls school, Bentley Priory was purchased by the Ministry of Defence and, during World War II, became the headquarters of RAF Fighter Command.  We arrive at Bentley in the early afternoon where we will be met by our guide.  Listen to the fascinating story of the beautiful Grade II listed country house during your guided tour, focusing on its  wartime role. Explore the important stories of  ‘The One’– Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding, ‘The Few’ who took to the air to defend our skies and ‘The Many’ without whose tireless work on the ground victory would not have been possible and discover how technology, leadership and courage forged victory allowing Britain’s darkest hour to also be her Finest Hour.

Following your tour, sit down and relax before being served a lovely afternoon tea.
