Wednesday 10th April 2019
£37.00 All seats
We spend the afternoon at Ascott House, an ‘Old English’ half-timbered manor, dating back to the 16th century. At its core is an old farmhouse, though to date from the early 1600s but it was transformed by the Rothschilds towards the end of the 19th century and now houses an exceptional collection of paintings, fine furniture and superb oriental porcelain. The extensive gardens are an attractive mix of formal and natural, with specimen trees, shrubs and beautiful herbaceous borders. Prior to arriving at Ascott we shall stop in the town of Aylesbury where there will be time to find lunch. As the tearoom at Ascott is very small we have arranged for tea/coffee and biscuits to be served in the Cricket Pavilion prior to our departure.
