50 Fascinating Facts About… The River Thames
including a cruise from Marlow to Henley
Tuesday 8th August 2017
Join Mark for another in his ‘Fascinating Facts’ series of excursions which today will be exploring part of Britain’s best known river. Do you know how long the Thames is from its source to the sea, how many locks and bridges or how many species of fish there are? All will be revealed as we pass Hampton Court, Runnymede, Eton, Maidenhead and Cookham before arriving in Marlow where we board one of Salters boats for a two and a quarter hour cruise upstream to Henley-on-Thames. This is one of the prettiest stretches of the River passing through 3 locks with views of the historic stately homes of Bisham and Medmenham Abbey and the world famous Henley Royal Regatta Course. We recommend bringing a packed lunch to eat on the boat. Hot and cold drinks may be purchased on board.
Please note that there is a walk of a few hundred yards to/from the landing stages in Marlow and Henley.
